Q: Do you do commissions or customized paintings?

A: Yes! I have painted commissions using photo references as well as shared memories and stories, and I also have customized some of my existing paintings with minor detail changes to match people’s requests. To inquire about my availability, feel free to email me. :)

Q: Do you teach classes?

A: Not yet, but I would love to teach some digital painting classes in the future! If you want to be the first to see an announcement of upcoming classes, you can sign up for my newsletter.

Q: How do you feel about AI art? Do you use any AI software in your process?

A: I have an appreciation for the technological advances of the past few years, but I’ve had to wrestle with what the growing presence of AI art means for digital illustrators now. It’s been discouraging to see the way it has affected the art world.

I don’t personally use any AI technology for my digital painting process. I only use my iPad and stylus in the Procreate app. I muddle through and make ugly mistakes and fix them until it looks right and makes me happy.

Q: What’s the story behind your dragon paintings? Where does the name Fafnir come from?

A: Fafnir the dragon has been a fun part of the Scandinavian Festival for as long as I can remember. Those who remember the pageants with the Fafnir from the 30 or more years ago will remember how well-loved that costume was. 😊 Fafnir was originally a nasty gold-hoarding dragon from Norse mythology. However, my version of Fafnir is more curious and playful. I’ve always liked chubby dragons with tiny wings, so every new Fafnir painting brings me a smile as I paint.
